taking time off during the holidays?

do you trust your coworkers to be nice to your cube while you're away?

lite reading

one of the most entertaining things to read when we visit brian's mom in carmel is the police log from the carmel pine cone. i've recently discovered i can access it online! now the rest of the world can discover the dry but hilarious reporting of accidentily tripped smoke alarms, parking lot tussels, and missing pets that i love so much.

full moon fever

a glance just now out my cubicle window treated me to the plumber's crack of the facilities guy who happened to be blowing leftover leaves into tidy little piles outside the building.

so. not. pretty.

yeeha!

went into the gap at lunch today, there was a bunch of stuff on sale. found a nice pair of pants on the sale rack for 9.99, took them into the dressing room to try on and ended up getting them in one size SMALLER.

BOOYAH!

also, got a bag of brand name cough drops for 29 cents!

(doesn't take much to make a post-partum women's day, does it?)

the toddler blues

from mimi smartypants:

"Nora was in Tired Baby Code Red Mode, AAAA-OOOOGGGA AAAA-OOOOGGGA like a submarine movie, all full of testing behavior and frustration. After the tenth time I told her 'no' about something, she collapsed on the floor sobbing and then rolled over, found the harmonica, and lay there bleating on it for a while. There are no deeper blues than the toddler blues."

the timing of this is just a coincidence, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the election

my new favorite website.

when i'm able to imbibe with abandon again (probably not until next summer or fall), i'm going to have a mixilator party.

last post about the election

somebody talks a blue streak about the red states.

this pisses me off

apparently, there are some elected dems that think gavin newsom aided in bush victory this week. i'm sorry but i just don't buy it. while i agree it might have fired up a few small minded born agains in the middle of the country who think that "moral values" = anything about sex or homosexuality. but, shit man, there is a lot of other stuff that put this whole scary thing in motion. and when you add karl rove, dirty dealer himself, i suspect that it was probably a shoo-in that the shrub would win.

i'm just glad that gavin newsom had the balls to do something about the question of gay marriage rather than pussy foot around it like any other elected official, democrat or republican.

in the words of my sister on IM earlier today,

the next four years

with this bumper sticker on BOTH our cars, it's probably no secret who we're voting for today. but it is important to get out and vote. so go do it, damn it. if you don't, you cannot complain about whoever is in the white house for the next four years. you have no right to.
